Did You Know?

  • It was in the 1700's that horses first arrived in the lives of the Nez Perce Tribe.

  • They became famous for breeding the Appalosa, now one of the most popular breeds in the US.

  • The Nez Perce War of 1877 resulted in a separation of the tribe and their prized Appaloosas.

  • Over a century after the war, the equestrian legacy of the Nez Perce tribe was re-invigorated with the arrival of four stallions.

  • This unique new breed is called the Nez Perce Horse.
